We stand firm in our belief that interdisciplinary collaborations are necessary for new conceptions in the arts and technology. Through our Tech Lab, we experiment fusing traditional mediums such as paintings, sculpture and installations with immersive technology to create multi-sensory experiences and redefine how murals are experienced in the future.

How it began…

Our curiosity to investigate the impacts of Art & Technology started with “ECHOES”, our first Art x Tech mural commissioned by Google Singapore in 2018. The immersive mural experience comprised of painting, visual projections, sound installations and 3D reliefs.

This 4-month long project currently installed at Google's Singapore office offered us a glimpse of the potentials of reinventing storytelling through a multi-sensory experience.

Hello World.

Fast forward to 2020, we worked with Google Singapore again on another first of its kind Art x Tech project where we created 5 original animations projection mapped on a 3d relief text that spelt "hello world."

The Tiger

“God save the king” is a self-initiated Tiger Conservation project that we exhibited in 2019 at Affordable Art Fair, Singapore to raise awareness on the pressing issues related to the preservation of tigers. The mural was painted earlier in the same year as part of an event by Ice Cream Sundays.

The Dragon

In 2019, our crew painted the Dragon mural painted as part of Ice Cream Sundays. and on the same year, for our 100th mural celebratory exhibition, creative technologist, Heider Ismail offered a gift to our studio by creating this project mapping enhancement.

Journey Beyond

In 2021, for the launch of a new museum at Haw Par Villa, an iconic theme park that has been a part of Singapore's culture for decades, we provided an immersive experience in the form of mural painting, projection mapping, and soundscape design.

AR Filter : Light to Night Fest

In 2021 we developed our first AR Filter as part of an end-of-tour experience for our exhibition as part of the Light to Night Festival, Singapore. Through a QR code, we encouraged visitors at our exhibition to participate in an end-of-tour experience by leaving behind a short clip and message about the exhibit using our AR filters.

AR Filter : Leopard Cat

In 2022, we developed this AR animation to enhance the user experience at our largest community mural to date titled: The Future of Our Last Wildcat, organised to raise awareness on Singapore’s last surviving wildcat, the Leopard cat.

Interaction through sound

An audio-responsive projection mapping: a loud sound like a snap or clap triggers a change in video, creating the illusion of a portal to different abstract worlds through the door. Simple interactivity, if applied well, can have high appeal.

Voice command prompts

Using Google Cloud Platform’s speech-to-text service, we are able to create interactivity that responds uniquely to different words spoken by the viewer. In this simple test, “lights” highlights the text, and the colours “blue”, “red”, and “yellow” light up the corresponding colours in Mural Lingo’s logo.

Leap Motion

Experimentations with Leap Motion gesture controls for potential integration wth murals.

DJ controller

Projection mapping experimentations controlling visuals using DJ controller for potential interactive art x tech mural projects.

Windows projection

We experimented with a self-initiated projection mapping artwork using short clips of scenes captured during the pandemic from various crew members' house windows, where we were yearning to be outdoors to resume living as usual, after the COVID lockdowns in Singapore were finally lifted and we returned to our studio for co-working.
