Recycle Right is a nationwide initiative started in 2019 aimed at improving Singapore's recycling rate. While our collective recycling efforts have improved, 40% of what goes into recycling bins still cannot be recycled.
This is because Singaporeans were throwing contaminants (uncleaned recyclables, old furniture, e-waste, etc.) for recycling in our blue recycling bins. With the contamination rate of recyclables remaining high, NEA initiated the #RecycleRight campaign to educate and encourage Singaporeans to recycle right in 2022.
